David Foster Wallace was like, Art must be sincere! We must use every tool in the linguistic toolbox to cut through sentiment and dishonest cliche and build fresh ways to reveal the power and reality of unironized emotion.
And Mister Rogers was like, Basically the same thing, but without any shame or pretense or fear of sincerity.

When I learned about co-op housing in high school I thought I would have to move to Colorado or California to enjoy this amazing community. So when I found out my friends boyfriend was moving into one in my own back yard I had to look into it. I am so excited Iowa has co-op housing.
It’s a great way to live happily while meeting new people and staying environmentally friendly.
Plus they have a tumblr!
jasat asked: You are about to go on a journey that I hope to embark on one day as well. I am so happy for you and I don't know you at all. Mainly I am happy because I know that my dreams are possible... Congrats and travel well! May your travels be safe, adventurous and eye-opening as well as life changing for not only your life, but those who have the pleasure of being touched by your graceful, kind and open heart.
Thank you so much. Your words really mean a lot. I truly hope to see you do the same, even greater, some day.
Today I decided to be a bad ass and trek to my friends place (about a 15 minute walk) with all my luggage for the next 3 months. I figured it would be good practice for this summer.
I don’t even want to know how much my duffle weighs…
However, I’m sure I will need a chiropractor by September. I’m determined to do this though. Call it stupidity, stubbornness, bravery, or just craziness. I’m doing this to show myself that I’m ready to live my life solo. The world is such a beautiful place with so many amazing people to meet, I can’t wait for others to see it with me. If I do I’ll spend my whole life waiting.
I got my schedule for Gambia, and it looks like I’ll be helping with health promotions for most of my stay there. I was hoping to also work in water sanitation but any experience there will be a privilege.
I also bought my tickets for Sweden, London, Ireland, and Brussels. Did you know Europe has MegaBus?
It’s all becoming very real, and the urge to throw up is becoming more frequent.
My Adventure started a few months ago when I got the email saying I’d been accepted into a program to help with research in the Republic of the Gambia.
I’ve packed my things into a duffle and am off for 3 months.
Alone, but happy, I am ready to start the life I’ve always wanted.

Tippi Benjamine Okanti Degré, daughter of French wildlife photographers Alain Degré and Sylvie Robert, was born in Namibia. During her childhood she befriended many wild animals, including a 28-year old elephant called Abu and a leopard nicknamed J&B. She was embraced by the Bushmen and the Himba tribespeople of the Kalahari, who taught her how to survive on roots and berries, as well as how to speak their language.
